PRETTY MAIDS singer Ronnie Atkins has lung cancer. Get well soon, Ronnie!
As the PRETTY MAIDS announced in an official social media statement, frontman Ronnie Atkins was surprisingly diagnosed with lung cancer. Therefore, until the end of January 2020 all announced shows of the band have to be canceled. An open letter from the singer to the public reads as follows:
"It's scary how your world can be completely turned upside down in just a few weeks." I went to my doctor for a routine check in which In the middle of August, I complained of slight pain in the back, so I went through various scans, bronchoscopy, biopsies, etc., and spent a lot of time waiting for answers in uncertainty, finally diagnosed with lung cancer three weeks ago in any way a shock to me, my family, and all those who are close to me after it came completely unexpectedly and without any typical symptoms, and lately everything has just happened so fast and has developed so fast.
I am already being treated and underwent surgery two weeks ago, after which I spent ten days in the hospital with pneumonia , as a seemingly related to the operation. According to the medical staff, my outlook looks good, considering it's lung cancer. Anyway, I'll have to undergo more treatments in the coming months to play it safe. This means that I unfortunately have to withdraw from most musical activities, concerts, etc. for an indefinite period of time. I will face that with positive thoughts and the continual love and support of my family and friends. I am determined to fight this disease as best I can – as God wills!
Ronnie Atkins "
Get well soon and all the best, Ronnie!
