Star Wars: The ascent of Skywalker not only completes the current trilogy, but also ends a whole cinema era. Star Wars 9 will be the last movie to feature Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. After Carrie Fisher died in 2016, her scenes for the current film were assembled from unused footage. Mark Hamill will also take on his most iconic role one last time. Of course, Star Wars will continue in the future, but the two planned trilogies will be playing at a very different time in Star Wars history.
After many fans were dissatisfied with Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it was feared that interest in Star Wars 9 might fall. That does not seem to be so, the film has brought the first success two months before its release. So in the first 24 hours, the second most tickets were pre-ordered. Only Avengers: Endgame could have an even higher interest. Star Wars 9 is well on the way to becoming the next blockbuster. Although the numbers of Avengers: Endgame will probably not be topped, Star Wars could well end up in the top 10 of the most successful films of all time.
