The auto companies Fiat Chrysler (FCA) and Peugeot SA (PSA) are planning a merger. This was announced by the companies on Thursday.
It was not until Wednesday that it had become known that the Italian-American car manufacturer FCA was negotiating a merger with the French Opel parent company PSA.
"There are ongoing discussions aimed at creating one of the world's leading mobility groups," FCA wrote in a brief note. There is nothing to add at the moment, it said. There was a similar message from PSA.
Fiat Chrysler had only in the spring with the French manufacturer Renault connect and want to form the world's third largest automaker. The talks failed, however.
